What is this blog all about?

I keep this blog as a forum for friends and family to view what I’ve been up to of late and, more often than not, air my thoughts on what piques my curiosity or ruffles my sensibilities.

Writing is something I enjoy and this blog is a self-moderated clearing house for my interests.  The aim is to provide a regular and engaging weekly entry that is well written and of a manageable length.  While I wish to entertain the few readers that I have, I’m also using this as a training ground to improve my writing and photography.

As the second blog I’ve kept it’s been natural that my understanding of the quality I want from my blog has evolved.  In this sense I now hope to achieve a publishable, professional, standard in my personal work that compares favourably to what is found in the high-end of the magazine market.

While I do not have the benefit of an editor or even of a copy-editor, the standards of good grammer, strong style, distinct opinion, and interesting subject matter are ones that an individual can achieve working alone.  Moreover, these standards are not always achieved in a consistent manner by the professional press or publishing houses which have the benefit of paid staff.

In time, I hope to have strangers visit this blog and achieve a wide, yet discriminating, readership.
