Thanks for the comment. Indeed, the people are amazing in their ability to cope emotionally with the hardships of their environment. On the other hand, their physical adaptation is less balanced: without government and international food aid, they would suffer death on a significant scale and even more of their people would emigrate to other areas in the country. It’s a perilous situation–and they smile all the while.

I totally agree.and the people of wote have a way of staying jovial and seeming happy with life, even when you sometimes know for sure that they are living on less than one 3 meals a day.

Thanks, this post was very informative. It helps to hear the distance between Wote and Nairobi and hear a bit about your environs. That is terrible about the drought, though good to hear that food is plentiful is Wote.

It looks a VOR, short for “VHF Omni-directional Radio Range” – a type of radio navigation system for aircraft. VORs broadcast a VHF radio composite signal including the station’s morse code identifier (and sometimes a voice identifier), and data that allows the airborne receiving equipment to derive a magnetic bearing from the station to the aircraft (direction from the VOR station in relation to the Earth’s magnetic North at the time of installation).
